We are your One Stop, Professional Portrait Studio for beautiful contemporary Family / Individual portraits complete in frames, canvas wraps and many other options available including Gift Vouchers.

Our studio is located just seconds off the N11 on Kill lane, (near Lidl / Bank of Ireland, Deansgrange) complete with the convenience of our own Free Private customer parking on site for up to 5 cars.

Over the years we’ve gathered a great variety of photographic studio experience from a 5 week old premature baby to an 104 year old grandmother. Three Generation Group of 46 people, Choirs, Wheelchair Users, Family Pets, portfolios to Rose of Tralee Models.

Lorcan is one of the few portrait photographers with an Associateship qualification award from the IPPA. This internationally recognised qualification was awarded to him in recognition of the quality and diversity of his work.

COSTS
 
The studio portrait sitting cost is €65.00 which covers the taking of one family together, combinations of the children, the parents and includes the subsequent viewing appointment on a later date.
We have a vast product range to choose from such as:
Desk top: € 40.00 to € 220.00  
Framed: € 90.00 to over € 550.00
Canvas: € 400.00 to € 1,495.00

At the end of your Sitting, your Sitting Fee payment of € 65.00 is due. For your convenience, we combine your receipt with a full price list, itemising all products and sizes available, including Vat at 13.5%.
At the end of your viewing and having confirmed your order, 50% of the cost will be due and the remaining 50% will be due upon collection of your order, some weeks later.

THE BOOKING 

Your Studio Portrait Sitting can be arranged by phone. We recommend visiting us in advance (by appointment) to see for yourself, our impressive Gallery and Professional Studio. We will be glad to advise and answer the many questions you will have, in preparation for your family portrait sitting.

THE SITTING 

Most sittings take up to an hour, whilst some can be between 30 to 80 minutes depending on individual requirements / opportunity and ages of the children.
 
Upon arrival at your appointed time you will be encouraged to ….relax…. check your hair and if desired, have a change of clothes in our spacious wheelchair accessible changing room.
 
Your studio portrait sitting will be an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. Even the camera shy teenagers end up leaving our studio with a smile on their face and admit that they did have fun!

Timing is everything, especially with the younger ones. It’s preferable to arrive with them already in your chosen outfits ready for the sitting. After arriving, we suggest having the young ones in bare feet which works really well and once ready, we all go into our truly unique, purpose built studio. Whilst the adults are amazed at its architecture and functionality, the kids just love it and we tend to get their best co-operation immediately as their attention span can be limited.

For large groups, it is important for all to arrive at the appointed time, especially when young children are involved. By asking all family members to print a copy of our location map from our website this will minimise delays.

SITTING HINTS & TIPS

Plain and simple works best, emphasising the subject as opposed to what’s being worn. Avoid strong colours and distracting print / pattern motifs on clothes or clashing colour combinations for family groups. Casual dress is most popular. Co-ordinated pastel colour T-shirts work very well as do the traditional white or black T-shirts with denim jeans. All these look great when we print them up in either colour or sepia / black and white.
Bring a spare top, particularly for babies and young children and it’s handy to have your own hairbrush too.
Bare feet look best, especially with children so don’t worry about shoes as they’re rarely seen.

COMMUNION / CONFIRMATIONS / GRADUATIONS

It’s popular to arrange the sitting here in the studio having completed the ceremony and before going to the restaurant / home catering, especially when relations have travelled distances.

However, another option to consider is having your sitting on a separate day when you’re all more relaxed and not concerned about timing / entertaining guests etc. This way the sitting is about you, all the attention is on yourselves and we can expand on this by way of more choice and variety.

For graduations, we supply the traditional black graduation cap and black gown here in the studio at no extra cost, but you will need to supply your own unique qualification hood if desired. 

TANTRUMS

Although rare, it can occur where a child arrives unwell or decides to throw a never ending tantrum whilst making it clear that recovery is not an option! Should this happen on your sitting day, don’t worry or feel embarrassed, it does happen and we’re accustomed to it, both here in the studio and at home with our own young ones!
We simply reschedule another sitting that suits you and there is no charge for this second sitting if it’s during the week. So far this has always been successful and we’ve never had to arrange a third sitting……......yet!

In the larger 3 generation family groups it’s quite common for toddlers to become upset or overwhelmed with the excitement and numbers involved. We’ve learned one simple step nearly always yields successful results.
Either one parent or a favourite sibling is allocated to be the only one to attend to the upset toddler. It is important that everyone else present doesn’t give any attention to that toddler, even by way of looks or words and to simply keep looking at the photographer. It’s amazing how quickly this can work to resuming and capturing a successful set of images.
Should all else fail, it is possible to have a separate photo taken of the toddler sitting beside or in Mums arms and then “cut” out and superimposed digitally into the main photo. Whilst this does involve digital computer manipulation costs of approx € 60.00 the quality and standard of this work is just stunning to the point that no one could tell the difference.

Studio Rules:

1-No food or drink in studio please. (Except baby feeds when needed).

2-Use of client cameras / video on premises is not permitted for interference / security /copyright reasons.

3-Children must keep away from our special curved wall background.

THE VIEWING 

The viewing and editing of your images is a most enjoyable experience. Your images are viewed on a large high definition computer screen with the aid of our fantastic software programme. You can see your images in colour, black and white or Sepia (brown tint version of black and white), cropped, flipped, or enlarged to your specification. The options are endless and we guide you through the process with a practical and sensitive view to your needs.
Lorcan is a qualified Judge for the Irish Professional Photographers Association so you can be assured of the highest level of professional advice while evaluating your selection.

Our objective is to fulfil your needs now and to enjoy your repeat custom in the future so you can be assured of a non biased professional guidance throughout.

Please allow between 1 and 2 hours for your viewing and frame selection so that the experience is enjoyable and constructive. The ideal number of people viewing is between two to three persons. The more people, the more time it takes to achieve the same progress.
 
Viewings are strictly for adults only and should your baby sitter let you down, please phone us and we will be delighted to reschedule another viewing appointment for you.

Viewings are arranged Monday-Friday 10am to 6pm (or otherwise by special appointment.)
Saturdays are our busiest day with sittings and as viewings take longer than Sittings, we are unable to provide viewings on a Saturday.

THE FRAMING

We professionally frame all our own prints here so that the finished product is complete and ready to hang on your wall.
We have over 20 frames to select from, which we order in directly by special arrangement, so you are getting unique frames at a lower cost than high street framing companies.
Should you wish to order an unframed print, this can be supplied at 20% off the framed price.

We also provide the very best quality canvas wrap on the market as well as exclusive Acrylic, Brushed Chrome and Block Wall Art for the ultimate modern finish, all of which can be seen on display in our Studio Gallery.

EXTRA COPIES / REPRINTS

Any images selected for printing / framing are permanently archived on our back up storage system and can be reordered in the future in any size, at any time. However any images not selected for printing are permanently deleted.
All images from our studio are identified with a reference / date and by quoting same you can easily order any options from our price list.
 

BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

Our Studio is family run, so you can be sure of only dealing with either Lorcan or Joan at all times. This guarantees our personal service and commitment to high professional standards.

We work “ by appointments only” in order to give each client our undivided attention.
Should you be passing by and wish to drop in, just give us a quick phone call to check we’re not with clients and we’ll be delighted to see you.  

COLLECTION  /  POSTAGE

Orders take 3 to 5 weeks from date of viewing depending on digital custom work requested, type of frames / canvas chosen etc. Once ready, we will phone to arrange a time that suits you to collect your order.
Should you wish to have a print / frame ready for a particular date, please let us know and we will do our utmost to meet that deadline.

Where images need to be posted, we will be glad to advise costs involved.

PASSPORT / DRIVING LICENCE PHOTOGRAPHY

By appointment, we provide an on the spot (20 minute) instant service for passport / driving licence and visa application photos for most countries which conform to the new strict biometric regulations introduced in November 2007.
Costs for two identical colour images on gloss Polaroid film at €35.00 per person.

GIFT VOUCHERS
Our corporate designed Gift Vouchers make a wonderful personalised present for any one, on any occasion, young or old which can be made for any amount to suit your pocket.
The voucher is flexible in that the holder may add to the value of the existing voucher to suit their requirements and is valid for any purchase from our current price list.
